River Street Sweet’s is the oldest candy store in Savannah. The family owned business is known for its “world famous pralines.”
Milan Snipes, who works at the store, described the treat as simply “delicious.” She’s been working at the candy store for two months and will be a junior in the fall at Savannah State University. She enjoys her job at the store.
“It’s very nice to make people smile,” she said.
Even in rainy weather, tourists make sure to get their hands on the praline treat. Juanita Kinchen, the mayor of Warwick, Georgia, found out about River Street Sweets four years ago,
“Every time I come down to Savannah I make it to this one. I don’t like the other one I like this one [praline candy] because it’s the original one.”
